Strengths and Weaknesses-Online Dating

So I have been slacking on my blogging, I would like to tell you it is because I have just been so busy living it up,but really I have just been lazy!

In my last blog, I left you all in suspense about my online dating adventure! But then I took a month to post about it and most of the people who will actually read this have probably already heard about it...oops! But here we go....

If you have made it to the ripe old age of 25 without finding your Channing Tatum then you have been lucky enough to hear these phrases:
"It will happen when you aren't looking"
"You should so join online dating...."
"Why don't you start dressing up to go to the grocery store?"
"My cousin's neighbor didn't get married until she was 36...."

People always mean well, but what they don't realize is that you hear these things about 106 times a day. After a while you just learn to smile and nod :)

Which leads me to that warm June day when my Dad said "Kris I really think you need to join that Jesus dating website" Um what?? My dear sweet Mother is the one always trying to figure out a way to land me a husband, but now my Dad had joined the dark side! We happened to be getting ready for a garage sale that weekend so I told him if I made enough money at the sale I would join. My first thought as there is no way I will make enough money!! My second thought was if I did join I could at least start telling me I have tried it and maybe they would leave me alone, ha!

I really didn't make that much the day of the sale so I was feeling pretty good until I checked my email. In my inbox happened to be a 40% off coupon for ChristianMingle. God loves to laugh at me. So I took the plunge and signed myself up. Now to be honest I really did not have a good attitude going in but I was determined to at least go on one date.

I found out that my ability to attract men over the age of 60 is impressive. I was tempted to contact a few of them to inform them that I have a very attractive Grandma who could use a date but I decided she would not appreciate that. Finally, I start emailing a kid (yes I am almost 30 but still find it weird to say man) that appeared to be normal. The first date was fine. My socks were not knocked off but I had decided he wasn't a creeper. Since I am able to keep a lot of my weirdness under wraps at first he decided to ask me out on a 2nd date.

We went bowling because he thought that would be more fun than going to a movie. I did give him points for that. After I bowled a strike he gave me a high five. Now, to normal people that seems harmless. It is probably a very normal way to flirt with your date. But I am not normal. I have weird touch issues and after that high five I was counting down for the end of the date. Of course I kept bowling at a high five worthy standard. Agh! I tried to put my hands in my pockets or cross my arms but he still got in a few more. Then came the awkard goodbye where he asked me what my strengths and weaknesses were?!?!?! I am not sure why someone would ever asks this during a date but I have decided it was God's way of getting me off the hook! Since I knew I was not interested I really sold my weaknesses...like the fact I do not like to be touched, ha. As you can imagine, telling a boy you don't like to be touched, sends them walking the other direction pretty fast! (I really do let some people touch me in case anyone reading this has a cute brother/cousin/friend etc...)

I admit, after that my attitude got even worse! After a few more weeks of getting emails from older men I decided to cancel my supscription 3 months early. I know that online dating is a great way for people to date and maybe one day, I will try it again. But for now at least I can say I have tried when I am bombarded at Christmas on my dating status!

Egypt, bed bugs, and a wedding!

Flat KO has been very busy since my last post! Little Jenny took her to Egypt, Dubai, and I believe some other places because of all the delays and transportation issues that came up. As it turns out, my flat self has the same luck as I do. They (yes, I talk about Flat KO as if she were a person) experienced strikes, delays, lost luggage, and bed bugs! Luckily, both came home without the bugs, although Jenny has some gnarly bites as souvenirs. Jenny is slacking on providing some pictures of their adventure but I promise to post them when she steps up her game! I am cutting her some slack because she is short.

Jenny and I met up this week to attend a sweet friend's wedding in Seymour, Indiana...almost as exciting as Dubai! This meant that Flat KO, who Jenny was returning, also got to attend! Actually, we left her in the car, but it was requested that she make an appearance.

Allison, the beautiful bride, was a sorority sister of ours and wanted her wedding to have some Tri Delta flair. There is no better flair than a candle light, which involves singing and FIRE I might add. I basically rocked Tri Delta sweetheart, Adele style, but there were some sketchy moments holding that open flame. Thankfully, I was not in charge of holding Flat KO and a candle...the pressure!
Flat KO made her rounds, getting pictures with guests and although she had some trouble reaching for the bouquet she was able to hold her own during Polka!

The big news of the night is that I was able to secure Flat KO's new adventure! Jill, another Tri Delta sister and avid traveler is getting ready to head out to Paraguay for two weeks! I hope they have better luck than Jenny did! Can't wait to see the pictures!

I have marked another item off my list, online dating, but that will have to wait for the next post!

Flat KO and a 5k!

This week I was able to mark two things off my list! (Three if you count this blog!) I know every week will not be this productive, but it was a strong start!

With the help of my favorite Nun, I was able to make my "Flat KO". We actually made two versions, a serious one and a goofy one; just in case her travels take her to some fancy occasions! Currently, she is on her way to the Middle East with Little Jenny, for her first adventure! My hope is to make a photo album of all the places she goes.! Luckily, I have some amazing friends who have already requested her for their upcoming trips.

The next item to get marked off was a 5k. Now, anyone who knows me knows that I am NOT a runner...like at all. If I had to run for my life, well I would die. I signed up for this 5k back in June, and talked Meagan and Brittany into doing it with me! At first, I thought I would train hard core and would be able to run the entire thing! That did not work out so well, ha! I began telling people that I would start off and finish jogging and whatever happened in the middle happened! I did finish jogging and was able to do so in under 45 minutes which was my goal! Thanks to Brittany, who definitely missed her calling as a professional motivator!

The day started with me waking up at 5 am and driving downtown. Again, if you know me that in itself would have been enough for a medal! I was able to get Brittany and I downtown without getting lost, hitting a parked car, or killing us! We met up with Meagan and began to freak out for the next hour until the race begun. There were about 2,000 women, most who looked like they had been running since they were born. However, we all survived and finished!! I know that I absolutely loved it! And while, I will never be a runner, I am thinking an extremely fast walker will be just as cool :)

That is all for now because my mom is telling me to leave...since I still using my parent's Internet! I really need to get on that particular item :)

Here we go....

Well here we go...

Some time ago I decided that I wanted to make a list of 30 things that I wanted to complete before turning 30. Now, that I have been 29 for a week I thought it is probably time to get started because as we all know time flies!

One of my items was to write a blog about all the other items! Also, Crystal has been giving me a hard time for over a year to write a blog. I will warn anyone taking the time to read this I am not a writer. I write the same way I talk so please set your expectations low :)

I have yet to complete my list of 30 things, so feel free to offer suggestions. Brittany, my wonderful sister-in-law and walking partner suggested assigning someone to each item so I can create memories a long the way...I thought this was a great idea! Some of you may be hearing from me!

Here is what I have so far:

1- Write a blog about my list!
2- Participate in a 5k
3- Online dating (this is so I can tell everyone that YES I have tried so leave me alone!)
4- Read the bible
5- Zip line
6- Hot air balloon
7- Have a solid "in case of an emergency fund"
8- Learn how to change a flat tire
9- Create a "Flat KO"
10- Take a class- exercise, educational, craft
11- Ride the train to go visit the Ziers
12- Take a girl's trip with Crystal...preferably Chicago
13- Drink a glass of Trent's homemade beer
14- Add a new football stadium to my list
15- Take a trip with the family
16- Rent a fun car...just because!
17-Apply to graduate school
18- Get my passport
19- Redo a piece of my furniture...Pinterst style!
20- Get Internet at my house

I have 10 open spots! I am sure in the next year I will think of plenty of things to add to this list!
